I'm the kind of person who links music to memories in my life. I think most people will do this (most of which wont even know they do it)
Below is a selection of mine, and there are 100's more.
Post up a few of yours and say what they remind you of
Memory of Year11 G.C.S.E exam time at school. Had such a close set of mates. Was awesome! (Best time of my life so far) - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WZlLIEAiJR8
Memory of being 18 and in our main night club in town, 2am when the Dj was hammering out dance music. Every Friday i was out with my best mate - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=O-9oOOCg4p8
Memory of first "real" long term Gf - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=R2p2VJWNYZg
Second stint with same long term Gf - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_4JuJVj-LvM
Memory of driving along a French motorway on way home first snowboarding holiday (this song was playing in the car) - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DNT7uZf7lew
Memory of an amazing girl i used to talk to every night for about a year (possible soul mate, but she lived at the other end of the country so never actually met ) - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Dv3TZaIaaZk
Some of the music is a bit odd

I remember David Grey, This years love as it was my ex of 3 years song to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9P8e1EkZ1ug

I'd be here all night if I went through everything, so here's a few.
First time I went abroad (France, 1993) This was in the charts and was being played every night in the 'club' on the campsite - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjJwqDa1QVI
European Drag Racing championship finals 1996 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z8TBF05RoE
School trip to Paris in 2001, awesome week - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFusVrhcc2s
Last year at school, reminds me of the 'prom' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bW2LTnzD-vE
This reminds me of the last day at school, 2 of the girls in my year sang it at our last assembly, everyone joined in, reminds me how good school was really - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sogKUx_q7ig
First time I went to Holland (with my local scout group ) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWKhbR33bww
That's all I can be arsed with.
It's odd though, I quite often hear a song and it reminds me of a person/place/event, brings it back as if it was yesterday

Struggling to think of any atm, only 1 I can think of is Calvin Harris - The Girls, which reminds me what an ace day we had at Trax this year.

It's got to the point where a certain album reminds me of one of my old cars, I'll hear a song from it and get confused because I'm in the 'wrong' car

I think there's a generation of folk that were getting honking on md 20/20 and listening to that, all part of growing up
