Thats the thing with the VXR range.

Peak power only goes up a little bit really. But usable power accross the whole rev range is immense.

On the road it compleltly changes a car.

I.e, a Focus ST has about 10bhp less than an Astra VXR. On the road, the VXR is faster, but its not wooooowwwwweeeeee, its just a gental pulling ahead....

But with only about 20hp more, a remapped car will simply leave a standard one standing. I've said before, but a remapped and exhausted VXR left our standard one by a good 20 car lengths on a 1km straight....

Great midrange punch. On the road, thats where its at

Knowing absolutely nothing about power graphs, can I ask why the line isn't a smooth line - ie. has lots of little ups and downs. I don't mean why isn't it a completely straight line, I mean why is it just a little uneven?

Sorry if it sounds stupid

So a 'better' rolling road would produce a smoother curve?

not necesarily the RR or the software but a mismatch of both can cause inconsistent graphs with funny readings of the power output. modern dynos come with their own software rather than relying on an aftermarket windows based software that is made to just print out what the dyno reads.

Right, I see......I think. So the bumpyness is actually nothing to do with the car, just the computer interpretation.

probably. its very unlikely that the dyno itself will react and record changes as quickly as it shows on that graph, especially not on the scale the rpm's are shown in.
