i called up to book another driving test and the next available date in my town is in march which i realy dont want to wait that long for so i checked for the next closest town (20 miles away) and theres dates for 19th january

ive drove in this town a few times but not alot

do you think i should wait till march or just take the january one, i was thinking of taking a couple lessons with an instructor from that town to get to know it.

They dont test you on the knowledge of the area

They test you on how you control the car

Book one in your town, and check every day online for cancelations. You'll get it a lot sooner.

Could you not book the Jan one in the other town AND the March one?

Then when you pass the Jan one you can cancel the March one and get your money back, surely Jan > March is enough time to cancel without any hassel?

Edit: Accordingly, if you dont pass the Jan one, you fall back on the March one in home town

if its a small town with no wonky one way systems or random roads that merge into 1 lane from 2 etc u wont need to learn it tbh

however, there is the possibility in january it will get cancelled due to shite weather, then again this is Britain so it could be a beautiful summers day and the march date will be 2 inch thick ice or summat stupid, your call really

dont realy have enough cash at the moment but i could try and book it aswell next week if its not gone.

i know its about your handling of the car and not where you drive but it does make you drive different in a new town

Actually, there is only a MAXIMUM speed of 30mph - not a minimum.

But yeah - its not great on other people but 26mph is a bit picky.

Dont be silly saying he shouldnt pass if he cant drive in another town

A driving test is plenty scary enough without having to worry about driving perfect in an unfamiliar environment

Why do you think your examiner takes you on test routes?

But what about once hes passed and going into new towns?
Will be better if hes confident in himself.

Do you have a car?

Looks like it....is it insured?

If so book the 19th and get somebody to passenger with you while you get to know the area

So if your comming to a tricky junction you dont know you dont think, shit whats going on here,

Now imagine thinking shit whats going on here, did i look in my mirror then am I going to fast/slow, whats the examiner thinking, is this another 40 quid down the drain

He was right, if you can't drive in another town you shouldn't pass. When you pass you won't stick to one town..

and as for the 26mph stuff, the road was very narrow with cars parked at the side most of the sticking out as the parking is shit there and lots of lorries use that road and were using it the day of my test

thats why i was going 26mph and not 30mph, plus if i was going 30mph i might have gone over and got a minor for doing that

its a lose-lose situation lol

You were right to go slower then as a kid could have ran out or car could have pulled out.

you're obviously perfect... my teacher took me on the test routes all the time and said make sure you learn every junction on these routes as it will make your test easier.. it did. A LOT!

are you telling me if you went down cornwall or somewhere with shitty tight country roads everywhere that you would drive perfectly down them and not hesistate at all? i think not.

I would rather do it in the area that im used to. I would book the March one but keep ringing up, you will get a cancellation. The ones in Jan tend to get cancelled due to weather. I passed my test when they were having an official dispute and they were working to rule so my test was an hour long rather than half hour.

Although my tutor always said i drove better when i was in an area i didnt know.. she said that i was more aware cos i was somewere different..

No but on my driving lessons I didn't rush into my test, I had a lot more lessons than I needed too by driving around in different towns so when I passed I was ready to go out and be confident in myself.
If I had minimum lessons in just my local town I wouldn't be as confident as I was and probably would of had a crash by now.

I had my riding assessment for my bike test the other day and he said I was going 32-33mph on a 40mph road and id get marked down for that, on my speedo it was indicating 36-37, and I was only going that speed because I was on a little lightweight 125, with really bad winds, and the sun was blinding me from the reflection on the wet road, I thought I was driving safely. On the next time round I speeded up to 43 on my clock (remember he said my clock was innacurate by about 4-5mph) and he said I was speeding cant win
