getting my bro a nice set of tool accessories for christmas but im stuck on which to buy!

DeWalt

Quite pricey at £75 but its a name he knows and trusts and know is gona be good. Comes in a nice tough box too.

Not such a well known make but supposidly pretty decent plus £35 cheaper which leaves me more money to buy him other things...


Anyone shed any light on how good this ryobi stuff is?

dewalt for a gift, but i'd consider ryobi if it was for me as i recently used some ryobi kit and i couldn't fault it.

i've heard ryobi is pretty good. my dad uses dewalt but only cus he got a good deal off a mate.i got him a ryobi drill set last year, he seems to think its pretty good. i use makita at work,thats really good stuff.

Ryobi stuff is good quality as well, 75 quid seems a bit expensive for what you get in the de walt kit although i'm sure a builder will be here soon to advise.

tvbh hes only a diyer so isnt going to beat the hell out of the stuff, but i know a good set will last him many years... i have seen this makita stuff too.

yeah,i wouldnt say that dewalt is the best.my dad rang up the helpline to order a new battery and it went through to the same call centre as the cheap stuff you get at focus/b&q etc.

Dewalt is Black and Decker fact.
Any proper carpenter wouldnt use a set like that as it is, it doesnt include stuff you would need like a much bigger range of flat bits.
Usually you would keep them in a leather bit roll which means you can add more bits when you get them.

go for them off the bay if its the cheapest, Work supply us with the De Walt screw driver bits, they last the longest out of the ones weve used

SDS bits are cheap as chips really, the bosch new ones are good and they are like £2 each or something like that.

my dads a carpenter and has used dewalt and ryobi... Cant fault them both. but as said before with dewalt you pay for the name. !

I can deffo fault ryobi! but for things like drill bits i cant see there being a problem much, probably just use cheaper/softer metal for them.
