I went last night for the first time since august... glad I went because I'm going again tonight
You don't need motivation to go, you need motivation to keep at it.

It's all about personal targets I think.
If it's going to the gym to shed the pounds then the best form of motivation is setting yourself a goal weight and then progressing towards that goal.
Same idea with bodybuilding; set yourself a target weight in specific lifts eg. Bench press or deadlift and progressively move towards that target.
Works for me! Always make the gym 4 times a week, not missed a session in months.

There 2 fellas in my work go to the gym everyday. If they dont/cant go they have to give the other one a pound.

Correct sir,
It's not that I have put on a massive amount of weight but I just hate being unfit and I would hope that by getting fit my blood pressure will lower as it is just over what "it's recommended" to be!

Thats the worst thing I suppose, it's like Whittie said you've got to stick at it otherwise there seems to be no point

It doesn't take care of your heart though, (that big involuntary muscle that keeps you alive)

I feel like shit if i dont go to the gym.
Having a target and a decent training partner is the key.

I thought about pairing up with someone for the gym but i always feel like I'd drop out easier if they did too.
I'm really bad for not going to the gym too, if I miss it I normally only sit at home or some shit not being productive :s

I just stick to the routine, once youve got into one it gets a bit easier. I kinda know that i have to go to the swimmin pool twice a day, so i just do it without really thinking. As for long term motivation, when you can look in the mirror and see a difference, it makes it all worthwhile. Ive lost 2 stone 4lbs now since jan, and my fitness level is massivlely improved too!
