There replacing it with A WALL ! ! ? ? ?
Bedford council has ordered Santa Pod Raceway to close down their spectator area behind the startline, affectionately known as 'the barn', and replace it with a wall as they consider the area to be a public safety issue.
Santa Pod is now into it's 41st year of operating family orientated motorsport entertainment. The attention to public safety is excellent and there has never been any serious injury (if at all) to anyone in the barn, despite events often attracting tens of thousands of people who use the area not only as a spectating point but as a thoroughfare.
There is a very good distance between this public area and the startline of the track, a greater distance than seen at other race tracks in fact. There is no possibility of any high speeds in the immediate area in view, and when speed is engaged it is directing away from the area.
'The barn' offers a much valued spectator viewpoint (which by nature of the sport are already limited) and is indeed one of the attractions and assets of Santa Pod Raceway.
A wall behind the startline being replaced by extra trackside seating offers no compromise, nor does it address any history of danger to the public.
The barn is to be replaced by a wall incorporating storage space for track equipment and Nitro Fm,s new studio.

TBF if you're standing behind a jet powered car when it's running then you fully deserve the face melting you're gonna get!

You get that in the grandstand to the left of the track, but I bet they won't pull that down.
