A boy in the class she was teaching decided to call the bear after himself, so really this 'western' womans got nothing to do with it & she faces prison, 40 lashes, public stonning whatever. Total commedy tbh, countrys like this we should test our nuke bombs on!!

how much uproar would it cause if Britain shipped her back home, though. Eastern and Western relations are already strained as it is, they seem to take this whole thing seriously so it wouldnt work in britains favour to deport her.

The reason parents call their child Mohammed (or one of the other 13 variations...) is because it is a relgious thing; being that if the parent names their child after the prophet, therefore they will be lucky, and he will live a long life, etc etc.
Like I've just said on another board, you grow to understand the culture and religion more as you live in the region. She had only lived there for 2 months and is no doubt, culturally unaware. The majority in the region are far, FAR more relgious and devoted to their religion than the majority of people in the UK. You have to tread very carefully, and to an extent are walking in eggshells at times. Best thing to do if you want to avoid anything happening is to not do it, or say it. I was hauled into the office last week over something I said and had to explain what I meant. The culture difference is so far apart its almost beyond belief at times.
The key to it is basically get to know the person(s) very well before you say anything which could possibly be construed as something different, or keep your gob shut and dont say it.
