Hes doing film production, he wants to leave because its boring and its not what he thought it was going to be, whats to move to a similar course focusing on the more practical side

I really want him to be happy but its the money aspect of it he is paying no regard for

... but the money isnt everything and i want him to be happy

My parents are going to freak

My parents got a shock too

They found out the other week that the local shitty derby authority are not going to pay my tuition fees

So they have 9k to pay for me and 9k to pay for my brother

Not being happy at uni makes it rubbish. So much more fun and enjoyable if you enjoy your course etc

You can swop course after the first year. The first year is not marked towards your final classification. Might be an option for him.

I seen 50% of people leave after the first few course-works were handed out. tbh, i would have left if i wasn't someone to stick things out.

You can get a tuition fee loan as well as your maintenance loan now. I have for the previous 2 years, but I'm on the lower tuition rate as I got in a year before the new one's came in. My loans on about £9.5k over the last 3 years, cos I got a statement the other day.

My parents paid my fees and paid my bills. Anything else i wanted i had to fund myself. My Dad then gave me half the money for a new car once i finished uni to get me to work without breaking down all the time.

Think i owe 10k in student loans but will soon start paying that back.

Tell him to do what he feels best, it's his life at the end of the day. Baring in mind, if he took out a loan, he'll have to start paying it back straight away regardless if he's earning +£15k.

Haimsey - everyone is entitled to a Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance loan. You should get the £3k a year for Tuition, but Maintenance is based on parents incomes. Sounds like bollox the council won't pay (or the SLC, who it goes through).
