is it a good laugh and all that?
been toying with the idea recently, and after listening to some of the mixes on here its kinda bumped up my enthusiasm to go for it
wondering is it hard to learn what you're doing at all? I have a good ear for timing and beats and breaks from playing guitar, bass etc etc for years and years.
I know its probs totally different, but all i mean is that im good at listening for timing patterns and beats and keys.
Advice/tips what toget/do would be appreciated as im seriously thinking about it

Ebay.
For the price of new stuff you can get some DECENT second hand decks, which you won't loose much on if you decide its not for you and sell them on.
Thats presuming you wanna use vinyl.

Theres pros and cons to each CD's are probably more available/cheaper/easier to use, but the purists will argue its gotta be vinyl all the way.
Its just personal choice, I use vinyl but I wouldn't argue if someone bought me some CD decks

i prefer vynil but cd decks are brilliant these days and its easier than going out buying vynil at 8 odd quid per 1.
prefer vynil for scratching aswell

I been doin it a wee whiley now
i use vinyl, i really enjoy playing in clubs, sometimes it can be annoying that all ur mates are getting pissed and you cant, but the buzz you get when you've got every1 up dancing makes up for it,
some of the bigger clubs are a bit more difficult, having to deal with the echo, depends on the club layout, its a different world from playing in ur mates bedroom though
it really is a buzz, and i love it

hmmmmmkay - vinyls seem rather pricey yeh.
I thikn cd's would be a bit too buttony for stoppig and starting tunes.
played on a mates and had to keep pressesing cue and stuff... didnt really know what i was doing but was very computery

Fuck the puriests, its about the music you are playing not what format its on. Cd's all the way for the availability and cost of music. vinyl is very costly.
If you go vinyl make sure they are direct drive and not belt driven. The problem with cd decks is most are shite unless you pay quite a bit of coin.
It's alot easier to mix on the better gear too, but thats a plus point if you get used to shit gear first. also the skills are really transferable, if you can mix cd's you can mix vinyl too, not straigth away, but once you have the feel for whatever deck it is.

yep playin in clubs is well different there is a delay in sound from what u hear in the headphones to what the dancefloor hear so u have to user the booth speekers.
cant beat playing a popular tune and everyone is dancing

its the same concept, you just have to manually cue vinyl.
I used to sweat my tits off under the pressure of mixing, and it was only a small pub, loads better after a few pints, loosened up and got into it more.
