Just been called up for Jury Duty, 21st January for a possible 10 days. Get paid £30 a day, luckily its in the same town i work so won't have to travel far.
Does anyone know if i will still get paid from work for it?

I will be, but the financial advisor guy isn't in today, gotta wait till tomorrow. Thought i'd ask people who have done it before if they got paid.

i better get paid more than £30 a day, otherwise they can fuck off! especially if i dont get paid from work
Worst thing is, its the court that fucked me about when i had to get my ex gf's ex bf charged for ABH against me, he had previous convictions and should of gone down for a bit but instead they let him go and all he had to do was pay me £350 and like 80 hours community service over a year...

i got paid 58 pound for jury duty as thats the maximum they will pay out to compensate wages you also get like 6 pound for food plus your travel so mine came to 66 pound, not even half my daily wage oh and your work wont pay you if they do, its either or iirc?

i'd rather work paid me, get much more that way, its a 30mile round trip for me to get to the court. Couldn't of come at a worse time for the studio, i'm a designer and January is usually busy due to people wanting to advertise new stuff etc

Just speaking to a mate at work about getting called up, some lady overheard and asked me about when i was doing it as she has just got back from doing hers last week. Good news is the company pays me still :-)
Bad thing is if its like 10am and they say they dont need me anymore then i have to come back to work (which is bad seeing as the court is within throwing distance of my office )

No Steve there is a maximum which they pay, which is £58 or £59 if i remember correctly.
You get a food allowance, and i think they pay for travel (public transport - not petrol or parking tickets etc)

what about if your on more than that though? seems a bit unfair for you to make sacrifices just so you can watch some scumbag in court

Just go mate, or call them up and explain you cannot afford to lose money and are there any special arrangements which can be made, you never know they may be able to help out.
I've been twice now and it was very interesting(Mine was an Anal Rape Case BTW ) and very eye opening.

The only times ive seen judges let people off (im in court everyday so see hundreds of excuses) is for:
If you have a pre-booked pre-paid for holiday which you can prove.
If you have medical reasons which can be verified by your doctor.
If you work for a very small company (ie 2 people), the company revolves around you and the business will literally collapse if you're off work.
