in south tyneside (the county that I spend 80% of my time working) they have banned christmas decorations or celebrations in public places that depict any type of religious symbols. its crazy.

I am not religious (if anything I am against 'modern' religion) but banning religious symbols at the time of the biggest religious celebration in the world is pathetic, but why do it? they say its to make people of other religions feel more comfortable and to not make them feel like 'outcasts' at this time of year. which is totally wrong, I know muslims and have muslim friends, they dont feel they are being made 'outcasts' in any way at all and many, even the devout religious ones celebrate christmas in one way or another. In a local paper they asked a large number of jewish people. they have the same views as the majority of muslims.

so heres the solution, its so simple. INCLUSION RATHER THAN EXCLUSION rather than ban certain celebrations and stop people celebrating them in the way that they wish just let all of the religions do what they want and display their religious symbols when its their time of religious celebration? If I was christian, I wouldnt complain if there was a muslim festival showing pictures or depictions of their religions, in much the same way as if I was Jewish I am sure I wouldnt care if there was a reference to allah on a poster about a muslim celebration.

Will they be asking all churches to remove any sign of their religion from outside churches? So any statues of Jesus, Mary, Crosses, etc. As obviously these will also make others feel uncomfortable.

Best of luck....all the church windows around here are covered with anti bandit glass.

Better wear some PPE to fend off the rebounding bricks

what people do in their own homes is fine, but businesses and other public places have been asked to comply with the request. Outside Vsport I am going to erect a 10ft cross with a statue of jesus reading the koran nailed to it.

You may laugh but catholic schools are not allowed to have any crucifix's on the walls anywhere in the building or outside other than the oratory

I say catholic schools, they're all non denominational now apparently.

Personally I couldnt really care one way or another, but think its a bit stupid to make a decision like that as it could now be a never ending call to pull down alsorts of things that may make others feel uncomfortable or whatever.

Soon I'll have to have my arm amputated as the 5 stars will make people in Manchester jealous
