so if someone has a medical problem they should not be treated.
methadone is not given out, the paitent gets it in the pharmacy. having it outside is illegal

methadone isnt as bad as heroin though. is more the principal. Methadone is to ween them off it but i reckon the smackers now will just be like, im not stopping i can get actual heroin for free. top notch

some of you seem so lost in what actully happens in reality.
firstly do you realise how much tax money smack heads cost us, not only causing crime to get there fix,but the police combat side of it.

Suggesting methodone as a alternative, a cure , you have no idea what your on about.
i think this is a fantasic sceame, it will reduce crime making the streets a better and safer place for us and a children to grow up in. it works in Sweden so why not here

I think they shold make them go cold turkey in some place where they can't do any harm.

or make them go cold turkey in some disused warehouse full of weapons lie mtea bars etc, then at least a third of them would be killed off, and the other so fooked up they wouldnt need drugs and would sit shaking in a corner licking a spoon or something....

flol, yes that's a top notch idea.
If the addict's case worker/doctor trusts them, then they can have their methadone unsupervised so they collect it a few days or a week at a time from the chemists. TBH, AFAIK street heroin is so cheap anyway that it's not really worth selling methadone.
If the news report is true, it takes the piss because diamorphine (medical heroin) is in short supply anyway (it's used by people who are terminally ill - and was used by Harold Shipman to kill people ).
£12K is a ridiculous underestimate as well - to give out diamorphine and supervise its administration would be much more expensive than methadone treatment and I've seen estimates of £30K+/year per addict for methadone. But as someone said, it stops them from smashing my car/robbing my house, so TBH I'd rather pay for it in tax.
The alternative of course (putting them down) would be a lot cheaper and is much more attractive, but less ethically acceptable to some.
