The phrase, paying through the nose springs to mind.

after xmas i assume.

o2 probably paid a huge amount to apple in order to be able to sell these phones exclusively during the xmas period without competition from other network providers.

Dont you pay £279 for the handset, get it home and register to the o2 contract via the internet?

Could you not buy the handset wait untill someone figures out how to unlock it( lets be honest, wont take long) and then put your own sim into it?

It won't happen

You just have to unlock it thereby voiding the warranty and also permanently fkn it up when you download an update for it from apple

only way to get one outside the O2 contract is to get one on ebay (or forums etc) and unlock it - isn't too hard but certainly not for novices.
Then use what ever sim you want etc

other than that, no you cannot buy the phone outside of the deal apple has with o2

They're available to pre-order on Expansys who I know to sell handsets outside of contract. No mention of O2 on that page.

Matt H, its the iphone she is lookin for, not just a new ipod. she never had a fancy phone, ust cheap ones that are poverty spec. she wants summat to shout about, hence wanting a iphone. it does just about everything she can think of. im the same, i wanted a decent phone, so i payed over the odds for my nokia n93. its all about being unique and standing out from the croud.

ian, i saw expansis's site just before i made this topic, so we might well keep an eye out on that one, other than that, a booking to france might have to be made

If you try and get it unlocked you will most probably fuck it up

if you do get it unlocked good chance you wont be able to get the full use

firstly-its got everything she needs-but no MMS, no bluetooth compatibility, and no regular mp3 storage? and, u cant replace the battery, or perform hardware resets. ok.

secondly-if she wants something unique, why go for the iphone? they'll be just like saxo's everyone will have them.

to quote a well known mobile review site, "the apple iphone is nothing more than a magazine created icon"

and they breaking already. lollerksates ftw
