Ok i know a girl who needs a quick sale of her M3 convertible, she has been trying to sell for months with no joy.

I picked this car up last summer to detail it and immediately thought it was a sorry state. shes a bit of a WAG so doesnt have time or lower herself to cleaning/polishing a car but after i spent 3 days on both the exterior and interior it did come up very nice indeed. Overall I would still describe the car as average for the year.

Mechnicaly when i drove it, it was fine, felt reasonably tight and i know she gets the work done when its needed as she just drops it off and flashes the cash and thus doesnt have to get her hands dirty.

its a 1994 with 104k, techno violet, M3 (non evo) cabriolet.

She said i could have it for 4k? I guess this car is difficult to price but anyone in the know suggest its true market value?

thanks.

Convertible over winter wouldnt be the best move. You can get early M3's for 4k easy, its cheap-ish for a convertible but well....do you really want one

If it's in not bad nick then go for it. But as said, a Convertible over winter won't be the best of ideas Offer her £3.5k and the pleasure of having her back door smashed in.

Convertible and winter sounds like a great idea to me, buy now, use the heater, sell for a profit before the summer.

Techno Violet is a great colour too.

In the last couples of years the price of E36s has been dying quicker than shell suits. I struggled to offload my 320 convertible with 120k for about 3700. I wouldn't say its gonna make you a lot of money and their image isn't so good but you should certainly get your money back...and have a bit of fun driving it in the meantime.

Why? Not like you have to put it down, and don't exactly let loads of water in (if any, depending on the state of the car).

Go for it if you want it

Way I see it, your not going to make a huge profit selling it on in 6 months time, during which you have to put up with owning a convertible in the crappest weather this country has to offer. Also during that time it could need work which will eat any you make on it. Could turn out an expensive winter punt!!

Id leave it & go back to looking for a V5/6 STi

I guess it all depends on the state of the car beforehand, but I'd happily buy a convertible in winter if it meant a bit of a discount. If its gonna need replacing shortly, maybe not, but if it looks ok.....

Not the desirable one either, probably only a 3.0

Fuck it off gonna be a big heavy (wet) weight around your neck until summer, then you'll make sod all on it.

colin STi has gone out of the window, im not risking the potential money pit it will be. Every classic STi inevitably needs a rebuild, and im trying to put money into my business right now.

Just thought this could be a good oppertunity. Tom not everyone wants the 3.2 due to issues with that engine iirc.

The vangos or vanos or whatever it's called on the 3.2

Both cars have the vanos system, just the Evo has double vanos which can suffer from oil starvation if not looked after/maintained.

The 3.0L vert would possibly be a good car, though I think your buying it for the wrong reason (expecting to make a quick buck on it) not because you want one. Which with a car like an M3 is a risk in itself!

hmmm its not my first choice of car, but i did enjoy driving it (with permission) when i had it for 3 days last summer.

Its just a stop gap till i get a lease car through my business which is going to be a few months yet.
