It's now my last day before I have to put new tax on the car

Just went to the post office with my insurance documents / little green slip (I still don't have the full V5 yet )

All was going well until the old dear at the counter said "we can't tax your car because the slip you have is out of date"

I am going to need to phone the DVLA later and explain this whole F**ked up situation

Basically I bought the car off of my mate's Grandad who passed away, so my mates mum sold it too me (from him if you like)...

She did say after I had bought it that they were struggling finding the paper work but eventually they found his current V5 and we sorted it all out....

The car did not have tax originally and my mates grandad supposedly had disabled tax! (which when I put tax on I would need to change)

I went back to my friends house a couple of weeks later and we signed a form (V62 IIRC) which would get me a new/up-to-date V5

Because my mates Grandad died, his mum said that they would need to write a covering letter to the DVLA along with his Death Certificate to explain that he had passed away... and that they would pay the £25 to send off for it

That was about 4/5 months ago and I've had nothing from the DVLA?

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You as the new keeper can send off for a free logbook tho. You'd just need to send off that green slip along with it. It is a bit late now tho

Can you not just do the old delboy "tax applied for" badge?

What about doing the tax online?

The bird at the post office did say that I should send the green slip off with the v62 and I could do a covering letter to try and get it for free (not the tax, the new V5 )

if he hasn't recieved the V5, then the address will be wrong on the DVLA computers and will either not work OR will get sent to the wrong address...

Other way is go to the DVLA local office and buy it there & then.

Yup, you may as well not bother with one, as the ANPRs will flag you as soon as you drive past a traffic car.

There's a good chance they'll impound your motor too, I'd stay off the road til you get it taxed.

Im not gonna take it off the road tbh, I use my car everyday as soon as I get this f**king V5 I will tax it

I have also been told that if I know someone who own's a garage they are able to tax the vehicle without a V5 because they are a corporate company so I may have to make some calls...

+ its getting lowered tonight!
