Think again. I've always used a chamois leather to dry the car, as has my dad. My the water around my way is quite hard, and a chamois just leaves dots and stuff all over the paint work, especially in the summer.

I needed a new chamois leather so went to Halfords and looked at all the Meguiars stuff, as I have had best results with all of that.

They had the Meguiars chamois or the Water Magnet Drying Towel. The towel was cheaper and I thought I'd give it a go, as it states you need to wring out less than chamois', which really pisses me off.

Anyway, washed the car yesterday, and I can't stress enough how good the Water Magnet Towel was.

I couldn't get any pics as the light was coming in, but after a wash with Shampoo & Wax combined stuff, then dried with the Water Magnet Towel, the car looked like it had been polished and waxed. It took a bit more work rubbing, like 2 rubs as opposed to 1 with the chamois, but I still HIGHLY recommend.

It gave such a good result, even on flame red.

I can't actually recommend the thing enough. I also didn't have to wring it out once.

So yeah, ditch the chamois, get a drying towel.

Aye it is good. I usually give the car a wipe over with one of these then finish it off with a microfibre towel.

One of my mates was banging on to me about these.

I was like BAH, I'll stick to my autoglym chamois

Maybe I should get myself down Halfords and make a purchase.

chamois too abrasive, it will strip your wax.

towels are the way forward, you can also use quick detailing spray when drying for even better results.

I wasn't even using a Meguiars Wash & Wax, it was some TurtleWax stuff, which is actually pretty good. Might invest in some Meguiars, then I'll be getting awesome results

I have a megs water magnet and it was good the first time I used it but after a few weels the quality got worse and kept leaving streaks.

Went back to my Autoglym synthetic Chamois which is about two years old and still works as good as the day i took it out of the packet.

Think if you machine wash and tumble dry the Meguairs cloths they stay good for longer. It's certainly the case for the white and yellow cloths they do for buffing wax off.

When you say the quality is worse is that because it's dirty or what?

Just bang it through the washing machine?

I put my terry towel and microfibre on a boil wash Good as new now.

Lee the quality got worse as it the more it got used the more it got coarse and the less it absorbed and the more it leaft streaks I was having washed in with the delicates and no detergents etc.

I don't like them, just seems to move the water around. I'll stick to the chamois.

DON'T use a Meguiars water magnet!

They trap dirt, in them and give your car really bad swirl marks, I've stopped using mine due to this!

My mate got his golf rallye detailed and out of all the products he uses this was again the main cause of his swirl marks!

Depends how well you wash your car. And you can see the dirt on it as well, so I don't use that part to dry.

My car isn't exactly a show car anyway, is 7 years old on original paint work AND flame red. You can't really notice the swirl marks.

But if that happened, fair enough. I can see chamois doing the same though.

what are the megs terry towels suposed to be used for , drying or buffing of wax/polish
