After 1 Year of being on the road with not a days work, I returned home on Saturday night at Heathrow, leaving the great excitement and unknown of travel behind me for a short time.
Starting In New Zealand, seeing the mountains, hot springs, remote beaches and volcanos for 6 months, I head to Australia (Where I travelled in 2003/2004 for 6/12 months) I spent a month on the east coast beaches and towns. I then went to the Kingdom Of Tonga, the South Pacific Island chain for amonth, made friends with local and climbed coconut trees on remote Motu's and swam in the blue waters. From there it was onward to Rarotonga, the jewel of the South Pacific, in the middle of the Cook Islands where I lazed for a month in Lagoons and partied with people from all corners of the world. Onwards to Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia, over a period of 4 months then downwards to Singapore for a month too.
To summarize, the whole trip has been the highlight of my life - I cant count the amount of friends I made and the amount of open doors I now have to travel further, I've seen things, like Angkor Wat, The Killing Fields, The Endless rice paddies of Northern Vietnam, stayed with Tribes in villages high up in the mountains and rubber tubed down lazy rivers with a bottle of Beer Laos in Vang Vieng, Laos. Spent weeks on Thai beaches and Islands both partying and spending days on beaches with monkey infested jungles surrounding.
I recommend it to anyone. 1 year of travel with not a days work and it cost me less than just hanging around in the UK for the same amount of time.
Go for it, you have nothing to lose.
Ben.

I havent worked a day in over a year now,
It cost me about £9000 in total, and i've flew 15 times in that time, shared running of a car for 4 months, spanned 9 countries, and that price covered everything i've eaten, everything i've drank and every nights sleep i've had while away too, every activity i've done and gifts and new clothes along the way. The last 4 months i've travelled with maybe 7Kg's, in a 30litre pack.

Well, my old place want me to go back and work there, but i'm ready for a change I reckon - my cousins want me to go work for them in Devon, they have their own Antique Timber business, but my band is here still and I want to play with them too - its a tough call, i've got a lot of thinking to do.
Whatever I do, its going to include a sideline in Photography, i'm going to be shooting some local bands to start with for the experience and pocket money and because I love it and need to complete my Portfolio.
I'm off to New York on 10th November to shop for new equipment.

Yeah you have money to lose, thats it though - and you plan to spend the money on travelling so its not too much of a surprise when you check your balance at the end
As for life after - i'm bored already, i've been back 2 days!

Tiger, how did you plan it all? Did you have a rough plan or just go for it and decide on the fly?
Me and a mate want to do this next year for a bit, but not sure how to go about planning it all etc.

Plan it?
I bought a one way ticket to New Zealand and the rest kinda fell into place. Really - Dont plan anything at all coz your whole trip basically goes with the flow, you might meet a cool group that are going a different way and decide to stick with 'em - it happened to me in Oz a few years ago.
Dont plan, just let the wind take you.

Nice one. It's not good to be back though. Been back 3 weeks from 4 months in Ibiza, bit different but still had an amazing time, getting back to England for the Winter is no fun at all.
I want to travel but id get to a place and think "what do i do now?!"
