Took the corsa out for a little drive at 10:30 last night round town just for 15mins, now i was at no time above anything like 3krpm just trundling about. Spent 10 mins driving about then started heading for home when i saw my brother, pulled in to a local square car park to speak to him for a min and a police officer came over and started on at me, told me to turn my car off then proceeded to tell me that he would give me an ASBO because he didn't like my car or the noise it made ( I admit it is loud but not as bad as most, some will know how loud my car is but mostly just the engine noise). ALso told me that if he was a civilian living in my home town that he would be tempted to put a brick through my window and that it was probably best i kept my car in a garage.
What you guys think? i'm swayed with it being a little OTT, i'm quite happy to accept a "Try and keep the noise down" but not the detail he went into an ASBO for  . Also asked me if i was a boyracer  , most people around here know that i drive my car like once a week if its lucky

Sounds like he was on a powertrip, wouldn't take it personally as he's probably used to dealing with boyracers and chavs but there was no need for what was said.

i didnt bother he is head of the police around here, if i wanted to get him i'd know exactly how to. Not worth the hassle though

I'd have filmed him and said your sending this to the press for harrassement.
Especially the brick through the window..
Then i'd have asked if he thinks he's gaining public confidence in the police by speaking to the public like that.
How dare he!! (but only if the car was fully legal of corsa  ).
Also, becuase HE didn't like it he'd have given you an asbo..... So if your eating strawberries and he didn't like it, would he give you an asbo too.

Of course my Car is completely legit but i'm not one to argue so just let him rant on!. Found it quite amusing really as well, i'm getting spoken to like that and others that go bonkers round town don't get an ear in

This is the reason ASBO's have been a failure...
They worked when they were used on extreme cases... but then they started handing them out to everyone like sweets, and thus A ) made it pointless and B) made it hard to control / enforce.

IIRC the police cant just say to you, ill giv you an ASBO, you have to go court or some sort of formal hearing to get one of them. I could be wrong tho.

Yeh I think it's a court procedure as it's meant to be a serious punishment.
If I wasn't doing anything wrong and my car was legal (e.g. if he wanted to be a prick and check my car) I'd argue back.

ive been threatened by exactly the same thing before. More a case of mistaken identity but cop was still bent.
I was at the pub one nite with friends ( on orange all night ) but come half nine i was bored so decided i was gona leave and drive in to town to get a dvd from blockbuster. town was 6 miles from the pub.
i pull in to the car park sensibly as allways and park in front of the shop. left the car running while i hid the headunit when a copper comes sprinting across the car park telling me to stay where i am. He said hes been watching me all night raciing through town and messing round on car parks. i said it wasnt me ive been elsewhere and showed him credit card recipt for food from 15mins ago but he still went on at me and told me he would impound my car.
Was a rite tit and i hate it when i get victimised for driving a modified car which is only driven once a week aswell.

i can never be bothered to argue with someone that is sure they know exactly what they are talking about, i'm sure he just though my car was a 1.2 with a loud exhaust so i will just leave him to his assumption.

I was droping my mate off in a car park the other day and a cop came over and told us to get lost!! He said if any thing happenes around here he will know its us!
I said if where here nothing will happen lol.
He took my number plate so I drove off.
If you got a modded car your going to get some hassle.
