I have recently quit my job due to my boss being a complete fuckabout and not paying on time/not the agreed amount.
I was working as a labourer for a building company, I however feel a change is neccesary. I do not have much work experience as I was doing my own thing on the internet before that feel through so I have a total of 3-4 months work experiece. I also have no qualifications....
What job would you suggest and how to go about it?

yup, best bit of advice you need really.
Decide what you'd like to do, what you enjoy, something you can aim for. And then go out there and find what you need to do to get there.
Id be quick though as if it involves more education then you could still get on some courses now, but leave it a few weeks and your screwed.

Your only 18, could do ANYTHING you wanted (even go to do A-Levels, Uni and beocme a doc if thats what you wanted )
And yeah, you'll of missed a few weeks of any course, but if your quick most will let you get on them now if you beg!!

Yeah you'll still get on stuff if there are places.
There will also be people who get offered places and don't take them, if there are no waiting lists kept you can occasionally get on that way.
Biggest thing is to have an idea what you want to do. With that in mind you might be as well to do jobs rather than courses. Courses are a commitment and only useful if you see them out. Jobs will give you more insight in to the real world and perhaps an idea of what to do.
Don't rush in to education unless you also need to upgrade things like maths and english, in which case find something that fits around your new job. Then next year you'll have good literacy and numeracy to get on a higher level course and enough experience to have a proper plan.

Go to your local careers centre. They have a board with all available placements for apprenticeships and office work etc. Its worth asking what else they have as they don't always have everything on the board. I got my apprenticeship through going there, checking the board and telling them what I was after.
You could also try agencies, they tend to take a cut of what you earn though, plus I've never had any luck with them.
You can also apply direct on some companies websites. I now work at Norwich Union and applied direct.
It all depends what you want to do.

And if there aren't any places there is always next year
I fcuked up my school exams and re sat them in Nov, then got a job....got laid off the following Nov then worked until a place at college came around the year after.
So i was 19 and at college with a load of 16 year olds. I'm glad i did that, I was far more focussed after realising how the real working world works.
However.
This chap seems to have been working as a labourer on a building site in my area....and i know most of them
My advice would be to be proactive in some better contractors in the building game. labourers are a pretty invaluable tool in the scheme of things, and its relatively easy to get to know 'people' if you pick up the right 'knowledge' which can advance you in terms of a career.

College would be a good start, qualifications really do matter.
I went back to college last year aged 24 thinking id pissed the 1st 7yrs of my working life against a wall, but motivated myself to learn again & aim to achieve something, im now doing a moden apprenticeship in Instrumentation & process control for the offshore oil & gas industry, im 25......oldest guy in the scheme (only just next guy down is 24) Im on crap money now but in a year or so it goes up to a decent amount around 21k, then another 2yrs & its happy days 50k+.
Good thing is your only 18 so plenty time to put yourself on track. Seriously get some papers, show your willing to learn & work hard & you'll get wherever you want to be!!

It's defo a good idea to get good qualifications yea... for example:
I fucked about @ school (secondary school) and I got shit grades out of it...
I am now on my 3rd IT course @ college which is a Foundation Degree and I will hopefully go for the Honours Degree @ the end of it....
The only thing I fear is the lack of experience....

p.s. when I went to college I was 17/18 I think... and there were a whole range of ages of people...
some 21-24 which when your 17 you think are old and wise, and you give them loads of respect!
Then there's the kid's who are 16! and can't drive unlucky for them.
Moral of the story is, go do whatever you need to do, your 18 - and still young! despite maybe yourself feeling old now. Trust me when you get into the real world you'll realise how young you still are.
