Im OK if I stick to lager all night (usually Stella if its on draft where Im at) or just Vodka+a mixer, its when I start mixing my drinks thats fucks me up.

hangovers are mainly just dehydration.

So drink a few glasses of water when you get in. Pop a few pain killers in the morning, get a decent breakfast and you should be good.
