Well after umming and arring about what to do with the car i have decided to keep it, for at least another year.
I am now going to put an XE in it. I have been speaking to a guy about one he has for sale for £250 which looks like this:

now i know next to nothing about engines so i will be taking a mechanic mate to see it before i pay anything.

He says he took it out of a cav. He has taken the head off the block to rebuild it for a track car.
Doesnt have an alternator.
Apparently everything included (block, head, full wiring loom and ecu, drive shafts, gear box ( the high ratio one f20 i think ). Also the exhaust manifold comes with it and the power steering pump)

I know its hard to tell from the pics but does that look alright? i am yet to see pics of the rocker cover etc. should i buy this one or wait for another?

Because kandy red is an absolute git to work with and maintain i am going to spray the engine bay cream, the same as whats in my interior.

Cheers for any help, Steve

looks like your average to the moon an back xe's, depends on what you can pick it up for. I would want it alot cheaper than the sum of the parts as you will need to some money on head bolts an gaskets ect.. to build it back up (assuming it just wants putting together)

and find any problems it may have

250 is way too much for a stripped xe, and i also woudnt buy it in that state if it isnt a coscast, as i would want to know why the head had been taken off.

doesnt seem right to me mate,

id look for another one. you can get a solid built up xe for 250 - 300 notes

Steve, as will says keep searching. There's no particular rush is there, or are you wanting it in for the trip to Belgium?

I'll keep an eye out over this end of town for you
