for the last few holidays I have used a company called Vision Holidays, highly recomended to all my friends, superb service, very good prices and never let me down!
Untill I was 10 days through my 2 weeks away in Marmaris and the hotel manager spoke to me and said that he had not been paid for the Hotel and Vision had gone bankrupt as of 16 0 on Friday 7th September and they owed him £15000 so far!
He wanted me to pay for me and the girlfriend for 2 weeks, and then I would have to pay about £50 for a taxi to the airport and then flights on top if we were able to fly at the time/day our tickets were for! Being told that really fucked up the good mood for everyone.
Rang Vision Holidays and just got a recorded message saying that had stopped traiding. Tried their website and it has been taken down.
Tried our insurance company and Vision had not paid them too so we had no insurnace too. Found out that our insurance did not cover bankruptsy anyway so it was pretty pointless to us even if we had it!
I had a copy of the ATOL number for Vision so I searched for it on the CAA website...no luck. It looked like they were using a fake ATOL number too!
From Saturday onwards we did not even have a rep either even tho the ATOL protection should have covered this too!
Finally spoke to someone in the CAA who told us that we should be covered for any expenses and if I pay the hotel and get written proof that I should be able to claim my money back. Same with taxi. Same with flights but the company we flew with (Fly Brits) was apart of the Vision Holidays group and they had gone under too!
Luckily when we got to the airport last night we were aloud to fly or else we would still be there now awaiting a flight!
Shit situation to be in, ruined half my holiday. got to fill in a daft claim form and provide everything to the CAA ASAP. Its not a mega amount of money but I bet some people are left in the crap if theres large families in all-inclusive resourts!
Also - a huge spider jumped off my case when I got in the house last night and is loose in my house - the thing then fell on my PC when I was using it later on and it was that big it made a THUD when it landed. I hope to catch the fucker tonight or im moving out! Hate spiders and this thing is MASSIVE!

Don't know about the spider - must be a house spider you think? Dont think it could live in a plane due to temp/pressures?

I wouldnt of paid for the hotel. Would of done a runner and paid for another hotel for the last few days - its not your problem that the hotel hadnt been paid by them.

Read a news story about spiders the other day... apparently the spider population is on the increase due to the weather being generally warmer in this country due to global warming, and this includes spiders normally found in warmer countries - they're able to survive over here now!

The worst bit about it is I bet all the guys at the top who knew exactly what was going on will get away scot free and will start up another company doing exactly the same...

after reading on the internet Rob, Vision have owed some hotels a lot of money for a long time, so much that the hotels have refussed to book anymore rooms via Vision.
Vision have still been booking these hotels still and then sending their customers to other hotels when they arrive at the airport saying that the hotel is overbooked and sending them elsewhere

When it was on the wall i couldnt get a pint glass over its legs it was that big, i jammed it on though and snapped his legs!!!

christ i went with vision holidays last august to marmaris and i agree, service and prices were great one of the best i have used. was goin to use them again this year but did travel to cyprus. Hope you get it sorted mate and get all your money back, which hotel u stay in? i stayed in the hotel romance

Damn, we had that while in Greece when I was younger. Luckily it officially went bust the day before we were due to come home.
We were told on the coach on the way to the airport. The group that was meant to be coming out on the plane we were going home on, wern't on it....
Company was called Manos i think. We used them 3 times and ever year was very very good.
Just goes to show.

'vision holidays' and 'fly brits' LMAO never even heard of them, especially the fly brits is that for real?
Think its best to choose a reputable tour operator imo, not worth going penny pinching and picking the cheapest thing possible.
hopefully youll get your expenses back. Dont certain details get published when a company goes bankrupt? track the fuckers down, i bet the directors are fat barstad del boy types and northen probably.
