Heads were either made by Cosworth (Coscast) or Kolben Schmidt (KS).

Normal heads can become pourous

won t be 156bhp(which is what they usually are), if the gsi still has a cat, thats what usually make's the difference in power

it was the original head used on xe's...

then vaux started making the head after that...

hence the change

i think the coscast head was only on early gte's

iirc the coscast head has no core plug under the dizzy

the coscast ones do differ slightly in port design allegedly and can flow enough for 230bhp roughly without any modification. the later 20xe's say around 1993, basically those with a por type flywheel had heads that were slightly different inside, to do more with emissions

Coscast has forged pistons etc. Was quite expensive to produce.

I'll await one of the geeks to give you full wank worthy story.
