and thats about it. Dont think I will find anymore power from these cams, power drops off at 8000 rpm. Engine is built to take 9k easily so some bigger cams are already on their way

its fun to drive, lots of fun
its suprisingly well behaved round town and in traffic as well as long as you can put up with the noise of the tb's.

Im not really understanding of rr graphs. But do you not feel the torque sort of dissapear slightly when driving hard as theres not much of an increase from 3k to 6k.
As i sad i dont know much about this sorta thing so go easy lol

yes indeed.
I also went against the rulebook today and raised my suspension all round by 20mm and fitted softer coilsprings. it handles so much better on the road now. soft and high, its the modifying future I tell thee.

a nice flat torque curve is what you want. these engines rarely make more than this one has made, the ai is when mapping is to get it to increase smoothly and if it stops increasing, get it to stay flat. as long as the BHP is rising steadily then it will accelerate well.

Ahhh. That sort of solves the puzzle in my mind. As you need torque to pull through the gears but you need bhp to sort ofmake the car usable.
Is that right?

Cool - if I built a fast Corsa, it'd definitely be a 1.6 tuned and not a 2.0 etc

close to it though.
i swear i read in a magazine somewhere that they rolling roaded a car with the fans on different settings and it actually made a difference to the bhp. cant remember what mag though now.

yes matt, the more voltage drain on the cars electrical system the lower the BHP output.
If I had switched my fuel pump off i may have gained the 0.8 bhp I needed, no wait... that wouldnt have worked.

Nice graph...
The torque stays constant from about 2500 rpm ... all the way to max power, which is really nice. As it means you've got the fantastic mid range to accelerate from out of the bends.
I'm jealous I don't have that engine in my car. Now just make sure you use the car for what it was built for! track days etc!

nah, forced induction is for boys with small willys

Pah, run it with no alternator connected, that should add a few bhp

dont even have to do that, can probably get 1bhp another way easier

tried the alternator method already, well the engine does it automatically. the alternator belt flies off at 8000 rpm sometimes, doesnt add bhp though.
I could probably get a few more bhp from some cam timing tweeks and more mapping but im getting bigger cams anyway so its a bit of a waste of time.
