that's 8 secs to 60 on the speedo, not actual speed, indicated speed.
i'd say it's 8.5 to 60

i thought it worked the other way, meaning the car is sightly faster than the speedo time

no.
i mean, the time the speedo takes to get up to 60mph on the clocks surely is a few hundredths of a sec slower then the actual time the car takes to get to 60mph.

I went a test drove one two days ago and gave it a good pasting, the sales guy also gave me a copy of the Autocar review (which they keep at dealers) in which one testers kept it for a year and they did all the timing with real timing gear.
As per review
Max speed 126 mph
0-30=3.2 secs
0-40= 4.2 secs
0-50= 5.8 secs
0-60=7.2 sec
0-70=9 secs
0-80= 11.4 secs
0-90=16.6 secs
0-100=23.8 secs
20 to 70 (in fourth) 19 secs
30-50 (in third) 3.6 secs
30-70 (through gears) 7.6 secs
50-70 (in 6th) 11.2 secs
This is with real timing gear so non negotiable.
Face the facs guys it may not be the fastest of hot hatches but its pretty decent for a A-B car

0-60 in 7.2
good for a diesel definitely, just doesn't seem right to put a diesel engine in a hot hatch.... but, nonetheless, diesel technology has improved so much over the past few years so they aren't as bad anymore

Got it in black and white infront of me and after figuring how to drive it, I can honestly say its around that easy. Dont forget 225 ft fof torque (more than my Gsi and a Porshe Boxter for that matter) I got it to spin in thrid on the test drive!

how do you know? you dont even know what speed he gets up to
for all you know that could only be about 45mph by which time 60mph that gap could easily be achievable

because its book speed is 9 seconds, and the vrs pulls away a lot quicker than it

but you said it was 9 seconds to 60 in the top gear vid?
tbh i couldn't care less about figures, it's a good enough car for a diesel just wanted to argue this point with you

tbh your going to lose the argument because clearly the vrs is quicker than the cooper in a straight line.
if the cooper has a book 0-60 time of 9 seconds that only means one thing in my eyes

that the vrs is quicker but not 7.2 seconds in the video

the fabia is becoming the new 106 GTI!
Look its a good car - who gives a fuck about 0-60 in a derv burner? No one with any sense - its about mid range to top end pull, doing good fuel consumption on the whole!
END OF!
