This Certificate is designed as an IT Service Management foundation qualification. It is aimed at all personnel who wish to become familiar with the best practices for IT Service Management, as defined in the OGC IT Infrastructure Library guidelines.

ITIL is useful but IMO it's not the sort of qualification that will improve chances of promotion/getting a job etc.

I did it about a month ago. Have been doing everything it preaches about for 2/3 years anyway so it was pish.
Done the introduction and the foundation courses and got 36/40 on the foundation exam.
Intermediate one or whatever it is next!

ha ha, i've jsut been doing it this week. Sat the exam this morning... I had 2 days to learn it all.. Nice...
Its rediculas. The methods are all simple commen sense, but i have problems associating the termonology to the methods. I understand it all, but put it in the test on paper and i just go blank.
Its useless really, it only looks good on the CV.
Its only a couple of years old as a recognised qualification, but to a business, having things like this will put you in better sted over say a few A level results. Businesses like this sort of stuff, and as its fast becoming a world recognised qualification for the way service and IT departments should word, its good to have.

The wording on the "revised" exams was still awful.
I got paper 2. I'd concentrated my learning to the service support aspects. Sods law, the exam I got had mostly service delivery questions.
Im not an exam person. Mind goes blank, but i was very vocal during the training and clearly understand it all.
Exams suck, not the best way of finding out whether someone has learnt something. Had the exam brain dead issue since i was at school.
On the job training is far better.
I got 2 days training, then this morning I sat the exam with no refresher. WEll, my refresher was skipping over the folder whilst eating Frosties in the canteen
Ahh well, the whole department is doing is, so if I fail, i'll just resit. How much i'll remember in a months time about it all is another matter

I've read some of the literature and most places practice it without knowing. Might look into doing the exams next year!

Errrrrrr OK steve, glorified secretarie exam.
What the hell would a secretary have to do with Service Managment? Sorting out IT infrastructors and process, configuration managment, problem and incident manangment.
Oh I forgot, our secretaries also cover SLA's, continuity managment, capacity and availablity managment. Or maybe Financial Management for IT Services?
In the 7 majors fiurms i've work for, secretaries don't do any of that.
Or are you just trying to look big and clever by putting other people down for what they are doing? More likley.... Wanting to be banned again are you
Paul, I passed Got the results this morning. Don't care about the ITIL, just the fact I passed AN exam and got a better mark (not the other way round) than my mock...
