you allow them to pay you that much.. therefor they will. You need to complain. If they value you they will raise your pay.

I dont want to sound too harsh, but you're a mug for staying on that wage and not kicking up a fuss

Ultimately you should vote with your feet. Pain in the ass but that's how you really find out what you're worth.

I'm only on 12k a year too
I'm a fully qualified nanny, passed my courses with flying colours and get paid peanuts for working my ass off
My fiance walked out of school with no qualifications, worked at tesco for 3 years, and now he works at a frieght forwarding company. Been there for about 2/3 years and he's on 30k a year. pi55es me right off.
I have a house, a car and an expensive addiction to shoes to pay for, so as well as working as a nanny, i clean for my boss and her sister 2 days a week, work part time in a bridal store, do all the hours i can get in the pub and do avon. But you know what the best part is.......im still skint

12k a year? that sucks.
1200 payrise is proper poor.
Doing what your doing I wouldn't want to work for under £18k.
I'm hoping now for £25-£35k first year or two and then 35k plus after.

Walk out.
If they need you, you'll get offered more money.
If not, go somewhere else that does.

what's the scariest thingabout this is your only like a year younger than me rus.
12k if your 18 is acceptable.
12k if it's a year apprenticeship or placement is possibly acceptable.
if your 21 and on 12k - it's just not on.
As said, hand in your notice and say 'You've been offered more money at another job' ... If they want to keep you, they should offer to match the other job's offer.
Just say 18k and see what they say.

im studying accounting, how much are you on
ive looked about and graduate jobs start at around 22-25k
also saw a local apprentice accountants job with starting 14k.
On Topic: Find yourself another potential job, and hand your notice in, as said above, once they realise they will need you im sure theyll offer more
if they dont, youll get more elsewhere
