quite like the wheels mate, think they just add that little bit to the car.

wasn't ollie selling his GSi for around that price? and thats absolute minter of a car. So this is a little overpriced - get him down £400 and if it's in top condition (ie: limited/no rust) then it'd be worth while getting

Rust -
Underneath, everywhere, particularly the chassis legs.
Sills.
Floors, lift the carpets wherever you can.
Arches rot really badly, fronts aren't so much of a problem, they rot, but they're easier to replace, obviously, but the back ones are obviously a pain to replace.
Roof can rust, especially if there's a sunroof, also, if it has, check the drain points at the front and rear of the car
Bootlid where the spoiler (if it has one) sits can rust, like it does on a Corsa.
Front cross member in the engine bay, and the front panel, rear panel too.
Electrics -
Make sure it all works, mine was a solid car but the electrics were a joke, the lights didn't work properly, the remote central locking (which had been fitted by the previous owner) had a time delay from pressing the button to the door unlocking, the electric window wiring was awful and it was just rubbish basically, so make sure that's all fine.
Crash/theft damage -
Boot floor, front panel, that sort of thing, same as you'd check on any car.
A little nudge is inevitable really, most have had them, but walk away if there's creases in the floor.
Also, check around the rear window seal for scratches, if there are some, the window might have been removed at some point and the car stolen or stolen from.
Same goes for the dash, they're made of cardboard, so they damage easily, if a stereo is forced out, there will be marks
Check the ignition key area, make sure that's all nice and undamaged too.
Other bits -
Don't worry about the brakes being shit, they always are a bit poo unless they've had a decent pedal box fitted as the master cylinder is on the opposite side of the car to the brake pedal. If you can find a left hand drive one, that'd be better (if you could cope with it, which I reckon you could for a track car )
Basically, just make sure you get a good shell, as you'll spend a lot of money making a bad shell good, so might as well pay the extra to start with.
My advice would be to buy a good, solid base model 1.0/1.2 with a strong shell and a decent engine (so you can move it around while you're working on it), don't buy a modified one, at all, and don't buy one which is an SR/SRi/GTE/GSi, as they'll cost more than a base model and you won't gain anything (except a fuel injection tank and multi-point injection pump on the SRi/GTE/GSi, but that's not a big deal TBH) and ripping a good one apart is bad
That's all I can think of off the top of my head at 2:30odd am
Hope it helps

Doors can often be rusty too, quite rare to find one with mint doors anymore.
All of the above is right enough, finding a mint nova is near impossible now.
Around the strut tops too, can often be bad there. If buying one thats been valvered, make sure its been seam welded right, as the engine bay can seperate from the rest of the car at the bulkhead, a mates nova did this.

Well over the odds for a 1.2
I paid too much for mine, and it was a rare car, not a 1.2 with a GSi kit.
