The 2.2 VTi's are a really nice peice of kit with anything form 195ish to 210ish bhp depending on the specific engine IIRC.

Either way, a good looking, reliable and fast car

Get a 2.2vti with motegi kit.

They come with lots of kit, 4 wheel steering is gadget too

Nice comfortable cruiser and pretty quick for a FWD.

Here we go...

The car you're looking at is a 5th generation Prelude. There were 2 engine options as previously stated. However, the UKDM 2.2 VTI's only produced 187bhp and not 197bhp. If you want 197bhp or more (as standard) you'll have to go JDM. If you're going to do that you may aswell go for a Type-S. The holy grail of all Preludes.

As for four wheel steering, it was only the 2.2 VTI that came with it. The 2ltr cars do not. Unless you go JDM, in which case you could get a non VTEC 2.2 with 4WS. They have something like 150bhp. At first the 4WS is a bit weird but you soon get used to it. Parking is much easier, as are 3 point turns, but the best bit is the handling. You can really feel the car tuck into the corners.

If you're after a UK car and you definitely prefer the 5th to the 4th, then i'd go for a Motegi. It's a 2.2 VTI with a bodykit, different wheels and some extra badges. Much nicer looking too.

Major problems to look out for : Rust on the rear wheel arches (Honda problem) and crunching going into 5th gear.

Any other questions, just ask.
HTH.

i have just bought, (and waiting for my car to be sold) a 1995 prelude (2.2 VTEC) 4th gen for £500, its done 170k miles, but has been serviced at honda every 6k miles as i am mates with the guy from work - he has just bought a new s2000.

i test drove it last week and i love the 4 wheel steering, its great, the power on VTEC is great and there is slightly more torque than my 206gti, bhp is 180 odd, but they are nice touring cars with solid engines. the 4th gen has a fantastic interior!

ok that one has a VTEC controller in the dash but you get the idea.
