In bullet point form...

1) Took car in to garage to have egr re fitted as wernt connected properly!

2) Guy quoted me £80

3) Decicded to have job done as been driving car 6months with eml light on, but had no problems, but decided to get it sorted as MOT Is fast approaching.

4) Picked it up today guy wanted £150, i said he told me £80, anyway got it for £98

5) Turned ignition on and was greeted by loud whistling noises coming from engine and when under acceleration loud rattling/chattering noise! Also very very sluggish and slow!

6) Went straight back in, and he didnt want to know, and said i could book it in again and pay again!! I moaned as you would do!! - its worse now than before it came in, but he just walked off!!

7) Noticed i have scratches on car, which wernt there before!

8) Took it to a vauxhall dealership and they couldnt believe what they have done and said the noise as nothing to do with EGR Valve!, so booked it in there friday!! probably going to cost 200quid! And they will write letter explaining problem!

9) Went back to garage with mum to ask for money back or to sort the job out! and they told me to get lost!! And said they re fitted the egr valve correctly!

So im basically very angry and upset!! i should of just left it now and not took it to garage in first place!! Ive fallen out with my mum!! Im stressed!! lol!! Broke!!

Im considering selling car now as too much money to run for me, with tax insurance etc!! and i have some speedlines that i have bought being powdercoated white at the moment!! So probably will be selling them too!! As ill probably be paying another 200quid at least on friday!!

O and im going to trading standards!!, have i got a leg to stand on??

What you think i should do then guys?? Please nice comments!! bit pissed off like!! Sorry bout the long Post!!

Yeah, name and shame the garage

On another note, yes, you do have a leg to stand on with regard to trading standards. Get Vauxhall to do a report of what is wrong with the car and then send them a copy of the invoice (which I hope you got) from the garage that supposedly refitted your EGR valve?!

If it's a few hours work, they'd have charged more than £80 tbh, which they did.

As long as you got the invoice from them stating that you had the EGR valve refitted, then Vauxhall say that it has/hasn't been fitted correctly and other stuff has been done to it, then you should have a pretty good case with trading standards.

They was 99% sure it wernt to do with egr valve!! Cant remember what he thought it was!! mentioned air leak, gasket!, and pointed out a few loose connections! But will find out all Friday!!

Just a bit angry as how a garage would leave the car in a worse state from how it came in!! and not give a toss on what they have done wrong!

It's because they probably know exactly what they did wrong, but don't want to admit nor pay for it.

wooshing noise sounds like theyve removed the inlet manifold and fitted it incorrectly, which is causing a air leak... which is what the wooshing is... does it idle ok ?

definetly go to trading standards! Make sure you go back to the garage and tell them you are going to go to trading standards first as usually they shit themselves as they know they in wrong.

happened to me. I had some alloys fitted and they just stuck them on I paid and that was it. only excpet when i started moving i could here really bad rubbing noise from front and smoke coming from the tyre. I went back immediatly and told them to change my wheels back and when they took them off there was a deep cut on the inner tyre! And they were like looks like your suspension cutting into the tyre you'll need new tyres.

I went mad as surely they should check if it was safe to drive especially since i paid them to fit them. The tyres could have exploded. They wouldnt do anything so i threatened I'm going to trading standards and they shat themsleves and refunded me and bought 2 new tyres for me

The vauxhall guy did mention inlet manifold!! ahhhh so confused! And it seems to be idling quite low, and felt like it was going to stall on short drive home! Thanks for your help guys!!

Snap!! It wouldnt of been as bad if they had of told me about the problems etc! and tried to rectify it! I think they just want me to spend another 200quid on a problem they have caused!!

The plan is to go find out the true damage at vauxhall friday!! Pay loads! and then sort out trading standards then!! Then will probably try sell car + the white speedlines on here!!

Exactly they have a responsiblity for safety. You could have them closed down if trading standards got involved as they're risking peoples lives.

I would go threaten them first and if nothing happens go to trading standards. Worth a try.

Went to the garage again, and asked for my money back........nicely!, he said no way!! and again said it wernt his problem and told me to get lost! So i told him i was going to go to vauxhall friday and to fix the mess his garage as caused and i also mentioned i will be going to trading standards! Then i walked out!

So no luck!! ........ trading standards it is!! But doubt ill get my cash back!! and if i do it will take ages!!

Considering getting my own revenge on the garage now!! But that aint very sensible so i think ill do it the mature way!
