saying i just mentioned in the other thread. my mate bought a brand new on today. no lie, we took it back to mine, it froze 3 times within 2 hours! so its going back tomorrow
interesting read. According to that, the future doesn't look bright for xbox. I didn't know there still making a loss on every console

making a loss on every console? ouch! must be due to the extended warranty and free repairs as they were making money on them at one point iirc.

at the end of the day the 360 is already well established, it doesn't matter now if some have issues, they get fixed for free anyway

I took mine back to Argos, they swapped it there and then.

most consoles make a loss on the actual sale of hardware.
the last generation the only company making money from the initial hardware sales were nintendo, both sony and microsoft were making a loss on the consoles, it is standard practise.
not sure what happened towards the end of the consoles life though i presume the costs equal them selves out.
tbh i dont think it matters, the first xbox lost microsoft billions.

I don't think thats the case - Sony was well into the Green on hardware after the PS2 - well the PS2 is still outselling the PS3/360 in some areas. The last Generation the XBox was the only one to stay in the red to the tune of around 1 billion.
This generation I think the Wii is either breaking even or making a slight loss, the 360 lost for the first year but then went into making a profit this year (excluding the 1 billion for screwed consoles so they are really still in the red), and the PS3 is loosing money every console but is getting cheaper all the time (one of thier biggest limitations was lack of competition for parts like the laser where only 1 company made them)

mine is several months old and doesnt freeza at all, i think its your copy of fm2 rather than the console, if it happens with other games get it swapped
