Just bought a new car but got the garage to sort out the transfer of my private plate onto it, went in and signed the documents and paid the fee last wednesday and they were posted out the same afternoon.....

how long should it take for the documents to come back? the guy at the garage said three full working days and its been over a week now

anyone here done the same? how long before your docs came back??

I was told that too.

so if i buy a reg plate inc. all fees, then 2 weeks later i go to transfer it straight onto another car, i have to pay the fee again?

surely the first fee covers you for a year or something?

Transferring from car to car costs 80 quid every single time, no matter when you bought the plate.

It is NOT free.

The DVLA are taking ages to do these at the moment, its causing me a nightmare!!
Some local offices are taking 10-14 days to do the transfers.
Then its another couple of weeks to get your log book back im afraid
