....obviously very common. I have decided i want to keep my GSI as it looks how i want it to and for its age, is absolutley mint. Therefor, i am seriously considering a 2L to finish it off. just wondering what people have spent roughly on getting the conversion done, what i would need (excluding the obvious brakes, loom, clutch, box?) try and give me information of the price paid ie: if a mate helped. i have a mechanic who always helps me out. any help appreciated. thanks lads

No thats probs the cost of all parts, the actual engine and the price of getting it fitted.

Give it a rebuild aswell before you put it in, also new plugs, oil filter waterpump cambelt kit that sort of thing. Its easier to do while its out than replacing them while its in.

i would always sujest buying a donner car with the engine as you always need parts you dont think of and sometimes they are mega bucks to buy from vaux. lookout for a rear ended calibra etc thats been looked after and your off to a good start

You will also need a decent suspension and brake setup. Its all well and good having big power but no point if your car handles like a sack of shit and you can't stop

Dave_A did a thread abit ago about redtop vs 1600 its a good read.

redtop corsas are good i had one before i blew the engine up. you notice the heavy front end. so you sacrifice handling for performance, but with the right mods to 1600 they will have the handling and performance to give a redtop a run for the money

Couldn't agree more

Beato - I have an F16 on mine, meant to be slightly quick acceleration but sacrifices top end...

F16 has more torque than an F20 don't they? My mate has and F16 on his and thats what he told me anyway.

Na its the other way around the higher the number the more torque it can handle from the engine
