You'll probably think Im a right piece for putting this topic on here, but from a young persons perspective is having a really fast ride all there is to it?

I have been thinking about all of the ups/downs and the downs most def out weigh the ups..... for example

Evo 8 vs Golf GTI (just for example.... )

Evo 8 +
Insanely Quick (0-60 3.5 seconds???)
Top Speed .... Very Fast (not sure )
Looks Nice

Evo 8 -
Drinks Petrol like S**T (unless you drive it slow... but whats the point? )
High Insurance
High Tax
Expensive on Parts etc etc....

In comparison to a VW Golf GTI (2000 model) which is slower & doesn't look as nice beats it in everything else?

I know a geezer who has just sold his EVO 8 for £13k and said he only gets 100 Miles on £30!!!!!

What do you ppl think?

he must drive like a right twat all the time to get 100 to £30, you can squeeze probably 240 out of lisas 7 on a full tank.

You wouldnt get to 60 in an VIII in 3.5 More like 4.5 and you would have to launch perfect! But are you talking modified or standard?

if you cant afford it its not worth 'trying' to afford it. If you can, why not. What else are you supposed to spend money on.

100miles to 30 isnt bad :/

a full tank in the skline is say 60+ quid. thats around 240 miles i think

If he sold an Evo 8 for 13k your mates a tool. I wouldn't listen to anything he says

Yes quick cars are expensive to run but that's obvious right?

I'd say they were worth if you can afford them. As Nik said, you don't really go out and buy a fast car without thinking about the other costs involved do you.

I've just got the supra back after being without it for what seemed like ages. Was thinking of selling before, definitely not now

There are also a few fast cars out there that are not actually that dear to run, epecially if youve been driving a while.

yes.. I reckon I could get something similar from the Supra (perhaps a bit less) if i didn't have such a heavy right foot... motorway driving is the worst where the first turbo is constantly in action, town driving if you're careful you can keep the revs around 2k and fuel consumption is actually pretty good.

Put some money away each month to cover the costs of an annual service, MOT and other things that might come up. It'll be easier on the wallet.

Dave how old are you again, and how much did you pay for your supra? One of my fav cars ever, and was looking at getting one, but the only ones worth getting are the twin turbos aren't they?

Oh also how many yrs ncb you got?
