David Beckham has beaten the 37-year distance record for an American Football field goal with a 64-yard effort in an advert. "The guy's leg is golden," said running back Reggie Bush. "He could sign up for the NFL now and play for 20 more years." (NotW)

Yip he doesn't get the record but that is very impressive to get that kind of accuracy from that distance.
Guy's a legend!

No blowing my own trumpet...but I reckon i could hit a football 50 metres through a gap some what? 3 metres across? definately...
Maybe with an amercian football it would be harder...but still...few practices I could do it...

Not to rain on your parade but if it's only ever been done once in game time i'd suggest it's not as easy as you'd think.

I'd tend to agree that it's probably not that easy.
I think you'd be hard pressed to keep a football in the air for 50m, let alone a rugby ball shaped thing.

its alot harder to kick a rugby ball straight than it is a football i can vouch for that.

I'm fairly certain that as the record is 37 years old it's not that easy.

No I agree on the american football point...totally...
But on the football point...I can stike a football from the goal line...and it not bounce till past the other goal line...thats more than 50 metres surely?

It was and has been done on a full pitch on public playing fields...so I am assuming it was over 50 metres...
