to cut the story short
went to my usual petrol station this morning, new female member of staff, had radio playing, not overly loud but coukld be heard as windows were down, i fill up go in and she tells me that if she had heard the music before she started to serve me (turn pump on) then she would have refused to serve me as they give off the same radiation as mobile phones and could cause fire,
was she talking boll*x or just having a bad mornin, safe to say i cranked it up on way out 3400w

Agreed. Static would have more chance of starting a fire than the rhythm of your beat. Hammer time.

i think that the older mobiles (1st gen) could have ignited petrol vapour and thats where the scaremongering came from but nowadays It wont happen.

I answered my phone once when filling up and carried on talking untill the car was full.
I didnt realise the dangers and was in trouble with the woman in the station

Some guy somewhere proved that talking on a mobile cannot possibly set a fire in a petrol station.
It's nothing to do with radiation, its risk of spark.
Tell her to gtf.

Yes, because you can hear music and you can't hear the freequency given off by a mobile phone, that's why they are the same freequency...
Fucking idiot. You should have twatted her in the face and done her a favour.

Anyone ever watch Myth Busters? They shot a petrol tank with numerous bullets, and it didnt explode. Also, they dropped a lit cigarette into a puddle of petrol but all it did was douse the fag
