Im looking at selling the gti for a 1.8 T Audi A3, firstly i know it wont be as good around the twisties but i do mainly motorway miles so theres no point.

Gonna sound retarded here but how do you tell it has a turbo as they have all of those neat covers over the engine. Also is it only the 20v versions that had the turbos. ( 1.8 )

Sticker in the boot will tell you the power output in kW if it's anything like a VW, so you'd be expecting to see 110kW or thereabouts if it's a Turbo, 92kW if it's not.

Steve will confirm the sticker if there is one...

how big is your budget - easily get 200 BHP from one with a remap but after that big money for little gains unless you change the turbo

Around that yeah.

That will be enough power to keep you happy.

As said any more is pointless imo unless changing turbo, if so for upto 300bhp your taking £4k+. Look on the internet at the following companies... (sorry don't know the addresses) Revo, Jabbasport, JBS, Big Boys Toys.
