On what car to go for next is proving difficult.
Ive had an idea though, & that is to forget about fast hatches (R32, S3, FRS etc) ive been looking at for now, keep the golf I took my time rebuilding over the winter (should be reliable?) for 1 whole year & then get a Audi RS4 (B5 2001-2002 model)

£900 i'll make sure the brakes dont need done!! Although, thats about the same as a set for a scooby/evo!?
Insurance should be fine as i'll be 25/26 & once im working offshore i'll be earning enough money to run one

The P1 alcon brakes are around that, Brembos on the newage ones are expensive too, remember Loaf saying how much they skinned him. Then if you upgrade to say AP 6 pots £££££
Not surprised on the cost tbh - there HUGE!!

According to most of the magazines, the wheels on the RS4 are soft and bend very easily.

The faithers got a set on his A4...........they seem ok, although never tried bending them

Yep RS4 wheels are prone to buckling very easily. I think the maintanence will be very high on a car like that so just make sure you budget for that.
RS6 is a 4.2 V8 Twin turbo Colin.

Never seen a buckled one yet & I know a few folk with them.
Ok so im right in thinking a 2.7 V6 RS4 will cost a good bit less to run than a 4.2 V8 RS6??

Not RS4 style wheels, the actual RS4 ones. They are Magnesium or something and are very prone to bending. The RS4 style wheels are fine.
Probably a bit less but i'd expect them both to be pretty hefty to run. When my dad put brake pads in his RS6 it was about £400 just for the pads at trade price. Discs were about £1000.

Yeah the ones Audi sell for £900 not including tyres im on about, not the £450 with tyres ebay efforts!! I know a few folk with them & none are bent.

They are damn cool, but apparantly need a bit of money spending on suspension and bits to use it to its full potential. Like most fast Audi's

I'd do alot of research before you jump in and buy one, I can't see it being cheap to maintain at all. Look on rs246.com for loads of information. What about a B5 S4, that way you could save money for maintenance etc.

Yeah like I said, next year, need to save up a fair bit! But at least then i'll get use of the golf for a while so all the work I done on that wont be a waste.
S4 - like Tiff said in the film looks a bit tame

awesome cars. I don't know what they have now but they used to have them at Brands as safety cars and they used to sound fantastic belting round in between races.
