Going on from AK's post on Classic's, a neighbour round my parents was helping me with doing the engine on the golf & he mentioned he's got a garage on a bit of waste land at the back of the house & has an old lotus in it.
Was before the Excel era so at least 30yrs old!!
He said it has a 2L pinto engine fitted to it & will do 0-60 in 5 seconds!!
Im trying to work out what it was............any ideas??

Looked like that, but the whole car was red, I only saw the back as it was under a sheet.

Pinto is bigger than the Lotus Twincam though, surely?
I'm not arguing with you Colin, I'm just surprised it'd fit, the 1.6 twincam is a tight fit.

James, are you seriously comparing 2 pics from different angles and distances?
Colin, they're not massive, but they're bigger (longer) than a twincam.
Anyway, if that's what's in it, that's what's in it.
