...where you can't seem to escape, no one understands you and you don't know what to do, you spend each day feeling like you're on your own, although there are loads of people around you but all you seem to do is snap at them and be angry...

I feel like I'm going insane, can't seem to get my head round anything... the only thing I love to o that makes me happy is my job, but I don't seem to ever earn enough cash to live, my mum wants to me quit my job and get 'a propper job'...

last time I had a real job it got me into this state, I quit it to be a DJ and never felt better, but this time it's home life...

I can't afford to move out, but really want to! I feel this is the only way I can sort my self out...

Sorry for the essay... anyone been in the same situation and can offer good advise...

All you no good scum bags on here need not reply, I don't need you shit tonight, so before you start, fuck off!

I earn as much as I can I think... I'm not too confident in going out and getting a firect booking, so work through a company on a fixed rate...

I also work during the day for them doing graphics but I earn so little cos I'm good but not good enough to work for a big company if you know what I mean, I feel stuck in a hole

could you not try and get a job doing that where you'd get trained up? If thats something you'd want to do and leave you free enough to still do what you enjoy.

I used to, but got sick of it, so left the 9 to 5... but then the guy I DJ for gave me day work too, but it doesn't pay anything like a propper job.

I don't do drugs... had a short stint but not any more... not like the common chav who smokes all day every day... tried the coke... NEVER liked weed etc...

Sleep... it's fucked up, I finish work on a weekend at 4am, get home sleep... screws the pattern up during the week.

Ive got a couple mates that DJ the local clubs, one works for a electrical contract company, another for a travel agent, one's a mech fitter - none of them expect to make it big DJing though, I think its more they do it because they enjoy it & makes a bit of cash on the side.

Only one does it full time, but then his parents are loaded - tax exiles, built him a recoding studio in the mansion they left him to live in & he spends 3 months of the year in ibiza - so im guessing he doesnt need to worry about music

I think salary wise its going to be like being a pro football player, money will either be amazing & you'll have more houses, cars & drugs than scarface, or it will be £50 a time amature level - never going to pay the mortgage.

You've really got to give yourself a time limit to try & make anything of it, then get on with doing a 'proper boring job' & maybe keep your hand in with the DJing for a bit of fun!!

Thats is Colin, I go out on these bookings and do shit hot jobs, like last night for example, finished one job and went over at midnight to a club where my boss was, I did the last 2 hours and the manager was more than happy, had punters coming to the box telling me it was the best set they'd heard in a long time...

I just need to either cut ties and take the chance on my own, or stik it out for the love...

OK its pretty simple

Do you want to be a DJ & not have a lot of money?

Or

Get a better paid job & save for a house?

Its pretty simple, sooner rather than later though you're going to choose the second option. Its not not a case of which, its a case of when.

Suppose so Matt... but with a total of 0 GCSE's, DJing seems to be the only job I can get based purely on talent and 'good looks'

Well take the money scenario & apply the same criteria to growing up

You need to grow up & its a case of when.

Get qualified in something whilst your young, otherwise you'll regret it.

You could study something like broadcasting technology at uni, just go to college first & get a part time job. Some colleges even have a radio station you could work in

Try focusing on a specific genre of music rather than cheesy bollox. My mate used to get paid decent and he only played in a small pub, ended up with a following, worked there for a few years, used to get about a tenner an hour + free drinks and silly money on bank holidays etc. He quit though so he had some time off as he is a joiner and property developer as well.

Yeah you need the old qualifications to get anywhere, I returned to college last year in hope of finding a better job through getting an HND!!

Free drinks don't pay the mortgage thought.

Tenner an hour for one nights work doesn't average out to much either.

I've got over 3 years expirience in radio broadcasting, that was how I got into DJing, but again, I never did good at school... but have a GNVQ in Business

Could NEVER afford uni... but would love to go to uni and do something that will help

Exactly done it for a paltry sum, free drinks & a small following of loyal fans. Probably fucking had a hoot the years he done it too!!! I thought that was the reason most folk bought decks

Of course everyone would love to make it & be the next *__insert fav DJ here__* but that will only happen to 0.000000001%.

I think you should cut ties, get a normal job you enjoy & take up DJing on a Fri/Sat night in one local club - fust for the fun/ free beers!!
