picked car up from shropshire automotive today, went in for an engine service (found part of the wiring loom bare and earthing on the engine) and a power tune. will get graph put on here sum time 2mz. was amazed when i saw the result of the rolling road, its pushing out 111bhp at the wheels. and it drives alot better now. taking it to vaux at the wkend to find out if it was recalled for having undersized pistons fitted as the knocking noise i was told by 1 mechanic that it was my manifold and where i took it for the tune i was told its my bottom end (makes the noise when revved over 3k). he checked under the car for any loose brackets and was 100% sure it was coming from the inside of the bottom end.

111 bhp @ the wheels? surely you mean at the flywheel?

as for the knock, get a 2nd or 3rd opinion before going ahead with any work.

It's making a noise OVER 3k and they're telling you it's definitely the bottom end?

No, that's at the flywheel.

It's 64kw at the wheels, 82kw at the flywheel.

111bhp at the flywheel, 86bhp at the wheels.

That's fine though.

every manufacturer i've ever seen gives flywheel bhp over wheel bhp. probably makes the car's look as if they are faster at the wheels

still good though, thats a couple bhp up on standard

The 109bhp quoted by Vauxhall is at the flywheel, not the wheels.

Your car is fine, nothing wrong with it, it's good power for a standard engine which is 12 years old.

glad i understand that now
will be looking to fit a recon engine in the nxt couple of months (b4 xmas or just after) it was not recalled at vaux for having undersized pistons fitted. but my bottom end makes a very loud knocking noise past 3k rpm.
so will probably just run it into the ground then get a recon engine fitted.
any good mods i could have done to 1 when i get it (as it will be out of the car, easier to work on)
