Anyone heard of this?
This is from a friend of a friend...!!!
Just thought I would share this with you, as you know I work in the
speeding fine department in Swindon's Magistrate's Court and in the
course of my investigation into "fines, their payment methods, and how points
are automatically added against drivers licences" we discovered something very
interesting "If You Get a Speeding Fine." This has been tried and it works I
tried to send this to everyone I know. I know that for a fact is works so if you
ever get in this situation, you have an out. We discovered that this procedure
works nation-wide. Read it and try it, you have nothing to lose but the points
on your license. This is how it works:
If you get a speeding ticket or went through a red light or whatever the case
may be, and you are going to get points on your licence, then there is a method
to ensure that you DO NOT get any points. When you get your fine, send in the
cheque to pay for it and if the fine is say, 40, then make the cheque out for 41
or some small amount over the fine. The system will then have to send you back a
cheque for the difference, but here is the trick! **DO NOT CASH THE REFUND
CHEQUE!!!** Throw it away!!
Points are not assessed to your licence until all financial transactions are
complete. If you do not cash the cheque, then the transactions are NOT complete.
However, the system has gotten its money and is happy and will not bother you
any more. This information came to our attention from a very reliable computer
company that sets up the standard database used by each county's computing
system

so your saying that when they come back to me and say please send £60 fine and the 3 points will be added to your licence, send a cheque for £61, and when they send a refund, dont cash it and I wont get the points??
how do i find out if the points have been put against my licence??

I know the feeling. I don't think insurers are usually that bothered about 3 points for speeding though (from what I've heard).

points only count for 3 years, after 4 years you can have them taken off but for insurance purposes they go back 5 years

Its bollocks.
All they do is keep you licence, and put the points on anyways, if you dont send the money in after that all they do is keep it on the system or pass it on to the courts to enfoce, and thus incurring a 50% rise in the amount you owe.
Pointless, might as well just pay up in the first place and accept the punishment.
Oh, and I work for West Yorkshire Magistrates

Sorry I read it wrong, I thought he'd put that the whole amount will have been returned
Either way, there is no way to get out of having points put on your licence if your caught speeding

I would rather have three points for speeding than a criminal record for perverting the course of justice.
Just take the points. None of that crap work. Especially not loopholes that happened once and were closed just as quick, 10 years ago.
Its a myth.
