"Would still like a golf GTI even though according to you that makes me a dull brainless twat! You have to remember that when I was growing up the 2 best cars to have were either the Mark 1 golf GTI or the Pug 205 GTI, then the next two down were the Renault 5 GT Turbo and the Corsa GSI - from that era how many, pugs and renaults do you see? you may see some corsa's but you've got to say the golf has been worth it's pennys since back in the day. Take back you malicious comments and admit that it's ok to like vw, just as it's ok to like Vauxhall's - poo head."

IF she buys another Golf GTi after the problems she has had with her Beetle I will set fire to it.

I bought a 1 ltr VW mk 2 Polo for £100 with 112,000 miles on the clock. It has never gone wrong and starts first time everytime, also passing its MOT with ease. I rate VW quite highly..

plus VW never really made a better golf after the Mk2 whereas Pug/citroen had big success with the 106 gti, 306 gti, VTR/VTS etc so most would have upgraded. The likes of the Mk4 golf where a let down so people prefr the older ones imo

VW's seem to keep running. Everyone knows the story of the guy that has done 500,000 miles in his. German enginering, sadly to say it, is actually quite good !

She was 17/18 in 1992 when the GSi was released and she was driving, but when she was thinking about getting cars and going out with blokes with cars in the late 80's the R5 & Golf were the weapons of choice.
