Neither unless you've a decent job lined up after your redundancy .

Evo. Just go and talk to Evo owning former Scooby owners One thing, Evo running costs are high, I'm on my 2nd Evo (have had a 350z, CTR, Cooper S Works) and these cost a huge amount more to run properly.

Your age? Old enough to be your Mum probably
Budget? Depends on total Redundancy payout
NCB? Full, over 20 years since last claim
Can you afford regular servicing, high running cost? Yes. Providing Jay starts to pay for his own car

Di, forgot again, on Jay's log in

If your using it everyday Scooby.
If its saved for best evo.
The evo is not usable everyday, petrol consumption is crazy, servicing every 4500 miles - not cheap!! Not to mention 8 launches on a clutch - heaven forbid you live the thing in gear at traffic light as yup youve guessed it your wearing the clutch then as well!!! I always found the evos (6 GSR and 8 FQ330) both felt a bit like something was gonna break! Whilst my scooby always felt rock solid, even with over 60k miles on the clock.
The bubble eye scoobys are 15k mile servicing i assume this isnt something they changed on the newer one.
Dont forget to make sure you get which ever with a tracker. In russia statistically every evo has been stolen at least twice!!!!! I know we arent russia but they are still highly nicked, especially people with guns waking you in the night for the keys!

Defo "for best" car as my other Mitsubishi (sadly not an Evo) is great, very reliable, quick, paid for but.... boring :-)
Di (I think still on Jay's log in lol)

I feel you have been unfortunately misguided, no respect for the millions of uneducated impreza and evo owners who show up at race meetings and car shows

a cossie is old, and will more than likely cost a packet to keep in good condition.
An impreza/EVO is a modern car.
Di - whats the budget... thats the main question.

I'd have the Evo, more reliable than a Sierra/cheap Escort.
