Why are these so cheap?

I've seen a few that are under £5k with less than 40k miles!

Never driven one (amazingly) but do things go wrong with them or is there anything bad with them as all i here is good things.

in fact another kid on the same day couldnt get lower than 16 in his 172 cup

i put that down to his lack of ability to drive though.

a 172 full fat will be no faster than a 106gti theres a vid somehwere of a 106gti racing a clio 172 round a circuit the clio couldnt pull away at all

ok i know aout the performance and i'm with Steve, i had a play with one and there was nothing in it but mine has a few tweeks and his was bog std.

I know it's french but are they prone to gearbox failure or is there anything common that goes wrong with them? As tbh they seem like an absolute bargain?!!!

106 GTi = 120bhp / 0-60 - 8.4

Clio 172 = 172bhp / 0-60 - 7.0

i have never driven either but they seem pretty different to me

When you buy a 106 gti, does the attitude of 'its the worls best car' come with it. Clio 172's weight about 1035kg. A 106 gti is about 920. On top of that the 172 has 52bhp more. How is a 106 gti as quick.
