Never been much of a M3 fan but a mate picked me up the other night in convertable M3 (latest shape)

went down our Private Test Track and it got to 160mph pretty quickly

brakes are good too

Even though they're limited to 155mph, unless he has had his chipped.

But yes, dad got his to 160mph on a private test track, so the speedo is obviously out.

They are extremely quick for what they are etc and the brakes are good lol tell your mate to run Shell Optimax, the cars perform much better.

have yet to go in an e46 m3 but my mate has the e36 m3(earlier shape) non evo model and that is much faster than another mates e46 330ci.

the e36 m3 is now completely stripped out and caged, and done very well at a recent trip to a track day

u think they are fast get into a m3 csl that is unlimited and they fly, i have driven one to about 100mph and that scared the living shit out of me, especially when the owner (customer who i was spraying his bumpers) was sat next to me!

I haven't been in an M3 CSL but would love it after being in dad's standard M3. Apparently, when you buy a CSL, you have to sign a disclaimer to say you won't drive it in the wet, due to the slickness of the tyres.

Clarkson tested one on the Isle of Man, it was a very good review.

I thought the brakes were supposed to be a bit lame on the E46's?

Brakes aren't that great on the E46... good for normal driving but fade easy on tracks etc.
