It is a shame you'd never get that done in this country, think people here are far too concerned with what they might miss out on in that hour.

They did something like this last year, or tried to, but in true British style, no one could be arsed.

no, the point was to raise awareness of how much we are killing this planet with pollutants. Sydney alone produces nigh on 50 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, 13 million tonnes of that results from commercial/domestic use of light sources.

Just goes to show we can really smash down those emissions levels by getting large offices and towerblocks to power down overnight. satisfied?

what does switching the power off for an hour acomplish though, we already know that how much power were using ect i fail to see how turning them off for an hour then turning them back on and forgetting bout it till the next year acomplishes.

If it were actually to see the sky without light polution then i could understand but to raise awarness of something every one is already aware about then do nothing till next year seems well half assed like some one said already.

Carbon Emissions aren't causing global warming anyway, publicity stunts like this don't stop it.

Global warming is a conspiracy,

The earths temeperature has always fluctuated

There was a pissing ice age, what do we blame for the earth warming up that time?

Yes, temperatures on earth fluctuate all the time, but NEVER have temperatures changed so dramatically as they are doing now

I agree with the global warming propoganda stance tbh.

Are we going to get rid of cows to stop them causing it?

we as humans (including cars, facotires, etc.) cause less than 1% of all CO2 emmisions per year. Volcanos and rotting vegitiation/animals cause the vast mojority. So it makes very very very very very little difference what we do.

It has also been proven that the levels of CO2 FOLLOW the temp of the earth, not the other way round. So even if we did produce loads more CO2, all evidence points that it wouldnt effect the earths temp.

So all this bullshit is just fuelling the worlds governments who are making billions and billions via these new 'green' taxes that really mean fuck all.
