In the passed I've heard a lot of people say they run their car at Santa Pod, whether it be an organised CS event, PVS, Trax etc and there car goes bang, what ever it may be!

Is there a reason why this does it?

Only reason I ask is that Pow and I might be having a race at PVS, 12v vs. 1.2 16v with AC to see what is quicker, and to get some experience of doing such things.

I am worried about damaging my car, as I really can't afford to not have it running as I need it for Uni.

Is it innevitable that if you give your car some welly, that it'll break? Or is it just luck? Or is it people running their car with a known problem? Do people get their car serviced before PVS and such events.

Any info, stories would be appreciated

if your abusing your car it will wear the engine quicker but your car will be fine. most things that blow up will be running high horsepower...

I give my car stick quite a bit, take it to 6000rpm and above when having a bit of fun accelerating out of roundabouts etc, and I haven't had a problem yet. I personally wouldn't be worried about it.

Exactly

Yes, 12v vs. 1.2 16x with A/C - which would win could go down in history

Or not.

I give my car death on a daily basis, fill it with oil and go. I did roughly 25-28 runs on my last visit to Santa Pod and the only problem I had was abit of a hot start issue

Got me home though, fucking ace.

I doubt you could even hammer a 12v hard enough to break anything. However i'd just be too damn embarassed to anyway.

Hmmm, had it round to the red line a couple of times COMPLETELY pointless though because it losses power (of the power it has) at about 5krpm, so would probably change then.

Joe - we all have to start somewhere probably will get laughs but it'll be an experience of racing the pod and not having to wait a few years plus I can see the 1/4 time

Skell, do you have a 12v? A 12v will limit BUT there is no point as you end up slowing down - changing gear keeps it going!
