just found out that i got a charge of £38 because of a returned payment of £1.50 from paypal to ebay, (even though my abay account is still in balance from it they may catch up though)
I was already over drawn by £35 and i was going to put the money back in today because its a solo account and not meant to have a overdraft. So i phoned the bank and explained the situation and that i was going to put money into the bank today to bring it back into balance but cant because of the charges. So the girl said ok mr whelan i will refund the charges for you just give me a couple of minutes
If i didnt know you could get charges refunded that easily i would of put the money in the bank and not said a word.. Now its time to phone barclays up and see if they will give me £350 back since last year might have to do one of them letters though first

reckon if i phoned barclays and asked for a refund of all charges since the account was opened in 2005, they would go ahead with it? maybe if i threaten to use the online help thingys

look into it...something about they would rather pay it back than go to court about it because they would loose more in the long run...no quite sure

I reckon they'd laugh.
You need to write the letters and go through the proper channels.

I sent a letter to the bank regarding charges to my account after reading a post on here about it.
Got a really good letter of the net, all i had to do was fill in a few blanks, and sent it off asking for £400, got a reply last week apologising and saying they would reinburse my account with £383.90. RESULT, lol
Its illegal for the bank to charge you, they legally can only do so if they lose money from it which never happens.
I have the letter saved to my desktop if anyone wants it

only had this account since 2005 and TBH it was only £15 per charge, comes to a total of £370 but i asked the lady on the phone if i should go ahead with the letters or try over the phone, she just advised me to use the letters as everyone else is lol. she was cool. like she didnt even give a fuck about the company that she works for

what type of things are these for though, is it like if you make a late credit card payment and they charge you £20 etc? or if you have an overdraft you go over it?

not strictly true,
ive only written one letter and that was to state i was disputing the charges, since then its all been on the phone andi got a letter 3days ago offering me £499 which is every charge since i opened my account,
but now i have my other account to do which was registered under the same complaint reference so im almost guaranteed to get them back as the bank fcuked up as ive had no correspondance about that account from the very start,
and ive also spoken to the Financial Ombudsman and they have it in hand ready incase the bank decline to offer me anymore, then it'll be registered with a small claims court,
the bank then has 4weeks to reply to the court, if they dont i win automatically, if they do the court awards me the win, +8% costs
its great
