Costing £9.3 billion pounds to host the olympics, taking 1 third from Lottery money. Is anyone actually bothered about it being in the UK? Personally i'd rather see them save the money and invest it somewhere else, not bothered at all about it being hosted here.

I'd rather they spent 9.3 bn on equipping us all with guns and declaring open season on illegal immigrants and criminals.

Most of that is things like infrastructure and buildings so you do benefit afterwards. It is a lot though.

It's not a good cause.

Whoever that was was saying it'll leave a legacy.

Nobody in the world cares about England or Britain, it's a total waste of money.

Bad areas rarely end up good.

Everything will end up destroyed in todays culture.

i hate to be the pessimist but from where i'm sitting john has just got it bang on.

don't get me wrong, i would love to see the money getting spent and there being nicer areas of cities etc but after the olympics have come and gone it'll fall in disrepair and become a broken heirloom of the 2012 olympics. i hope i'm wrong though.

Not being pessimistic at all Andy, the government need to realise there is alot bigger problems in this country and there is actually a country outside of London.

Which is why a lot of it is being funded by what the Mayor of London. Lots of Southerners are pissed off cos you lot aren't apying for it. Can't win at all so they wont bother trying to care.....

There will be a lot of improvements and tourism, it's not like the stuff they are building is going anywhere after the Olympics. It's about time this country invested in something positive

Id prefer this country investing in the health service so 36hr old babies dont fucking die of MRSA rather than build shit for the olympics

why are they waisting billions on the olympics and nuclear weapons, this government has the wrong priorities!! 9.3 billion plus the 4 billion for the nuclear subs could have been better spent on the NHS, Education and Prison Service...
